About the Author:
At four years of age Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (1873-1897) lost her mother to breast cancer. In the following years her sisters "left" her one by one to enter the convent. After Thérèse entered the Carmelites at age fifteen, her father died from a mysterious illness. Her last years were wracked by tuberculosis and spiritual darkness. Her autobiography, The Story of a Soul, is a beloved spiritual classic.
