A celebration of the boundless riches of Catholic faith
About this Book:
In this wide-ranging vision of Catholic faith, Cardinal George calls us to reflect on how God, revealed in Jesus Christ, makes a difference in everything we do and all that we are. In the light of the risen Christ, Catholics are united to each other, to other Christians, and to people of other religions and no religion at all. By recognizing our identity in communion, we learn that we are not individuals-we can only discover our identities in and through others.
Our relations, whether personal or public, make us who we are. This shared identity calls us to see every aspect of our lives differently. This book confronts head-on controversial issues like the upheavals of globalization, the increasing role of the laity in the Church, interreligious dialogue, and the conversation between liberal and conservative Catholics.
To invite us to enter more deeply into this vision, Cardinal George draws from the intellectual riches of Catholic faith, from Cyril of Alexandria to John Paul II, and weaves in his own experiences in faith-from a moving encounter with a non-Christian in Zambia to the remarkable pilgrimage of young people who observed Pope John Paul II's visit to Mexico City.
