Reviews
Presbytera Joanne Palko says...
Elementary students will enjoy this simple, yet moving story of St. Helen and the finding of the cross of Jesus. Queen Helen was inspired to find the cross and made the journey to Jerusalem to Mt. Calvary. When the 3 crosses were unearthed, the True Cross healed a dying girl. People from all over came to reverence the cross. At the end of the book one finds a clear summary of St. Helens life, and a list of various churches where the relics of the True Cross can be seen. Cornelia Bilinsky, the author, was able to capture the reader into following St. Helen on her journey and success. Rebecca Stuhffs beautiful illustrations help little ones to fully understand the story. I used this book during Lent as a help to young students understand the importance of the cross in their lives.
