Help kids discover Jesus' guidelines for life in the Beatitudes.

About this Book:

About this Book:

This fourth addition to the Explained series helps children ages 8 to 12 (grade levels three to seven) discover the meaning behind the eight Beatitudes-guidelines for living as Jesus taught us. This standalone volume helps children understand the passage from Matthew's gospel known as the Sermon on the Mount. At first glance, the Beatitudes can appear to be confusing. How are we "blessed" when we mourn? How are those who are "poor" in spirit also blessed? This easy-to-follow book breaks the Beatitudes down into simple scripturally based lessons, inspiring children with concrete exercises for spiritual formation. Engaging illustrations and activities for use in the classroom and beyond will help children walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

Features & Benefits:

  • Provides stories of men and women who exemplify the Beatitudes
  • Includes individual reflection and group discussion questions
  • Colorful text and illustrations provide a positive learning experience
  • Includes notebook sections for reflection
  • Part of The Creed Explained, The 10 Commandments Explained and The Works of Mercy Explained series
  • Ideal for ages 8 to 12 (grade levels 3 to 7)

What Are People Saying about this Title?

"Usable for intermediate or middle schoolers, the text is rich but attainable and is well organized to either use as a resource book or to read from cover to cover. If you are looking to move away from your traditional text for a unit on the Beatitudes, a class set of these would be awesome."

Reviews
Katie says...
Pauline Books & Media provided me with a copy of The Beatitude Explained in exchange for an honest review. This little book on the Beatitudes is part of Pauline Books & Medias Explained series (with books also on The Ten Commandments, The Creed, and The Works of Mercy). I hadnt seen any of them before, and I am impressed- I might need to pick up the rest of the series! The Beatitudes Explained contains 64 full color pages outlining Christs teaching at the Sermon on the Mount. Usable for intermediate or middle schoolers, the text is rich but attainable and is well organized to either use as a resource book or to read from cover to cover. If you are looking to move away from your traditional text for a unit on the Beatitudes, a class set of these would be awesome. Containing detailed explanations of each of the Beatitudes and their practical implications in the lives of kids, there are also discussion/reflection questions, Saint quotes, and tie in stories from Scripture. It is graphically interesting with illustrations as well as pop in boxes with connecting info. Im glad to add this resource to my classroom faith library and think it would make a nice addition to your home as well!
